Idea cuts the rate to 40 paise per min. Wow !!! Consumer si really gaining big way with this price war among telecom player. I never thought 10 years ago when I used to pay 15 Rs per min to call long distance in India on Fixed landline.Back then rupee was 38Rs for a dollar. On one hand rupeee go cheaper than other hand call price went down. I really feel jeleous to new generation who call so cheap .

Let's talk about telecom stocks, while on positive side there is good future for telecom companies as teledensity expands in India but at the same time no industry can afford too long for high margin. Telecom companies require big spending on setting up infrastructure once that is in place, rest is milking the cow.

Telecom stcoks are underperforming the sensex and I think they will continue to do so for a while. Don't get into value trap by picking Reliance comm or Airtel as they go down 10% from peak. I think this price war will be bloody and there will be acquisitions and mergers and so oo before it will get back on track. All players have deep pockets and can afford to stay for a while unlike Airlines.
