Healthcare debate is getting stronger and Obama is having tough time standing on his foot. There have been numerous town hal meetings across USA and most Americans rejected the idea of govt controlled health insurance.
Let Obama do his job but here in India we should take some lesson from this and see what lies in future.
In America healthcare is really expensive. Just to give an idea one visit to a regular physician doctor cost around 50$. That translates into around 2200 India Rs. If patient is admitted to hospital the cost skyrockets ..$10000 or 4.8 lak Rs to deliver a baby. Do Americans pay these from their pocket ? Yes they do . Buy akin to everything else healthcare is also available in installments or I should say Americans pay healthcare insurance premium every month. There are govt control medicads and medicals out there.
Now why is so much of outcry in America when all cost is not upfront ? well there are around 45 million Americans are insured. They don't have money to pay for insurance premium, they don't have a job .
Let's put all this into India context now.
Is halthcare is expensive in India ?
Do insurance companies control healthcare cost ?
Are there Indians who need insurance ?
