It used to be case that Dalal street was following what;s happening in Dow Jones, but recently that relationship is reversed . Although after a big drop of 200 points on Dow , there was good chance of Sensex opening lower. But a big sell of is not visible.
Usually stocks goes down for 2 reason
a) seller offer lower prices to get out
b) No buyers in market.
After we are noticing that not much new money is coming in market and trading activity has increased ,this is very common pattern during a bull cycle. Interestingly investors are holding tight this time. They don't want to loose opportunity of further upside. That's holding market very well. There are hardly any sellers.
