Renewable energy companies have great future in India. There are solid reason to believe that..
1. Power demand soaring in India
We all know that very well. As india grows we need more and more power.
2. Plenty of Sun shine in India
India being tropical country see sunshine for more then 8 months. That's good for solar power.
3. Emphasis on global warming
High emphasis on global warning will put pressure on India and other countries to look for solar and wind power.
A really good question Ankur. India is in dire need of power and energy and govt should be taking renewable energy as priority. Unfortunately there has not been any innovative thinking from govt of india to promote development and research in renewable energy in India. This can be gauged from the fact that all major power projects coming up Adani, Reliance energy, tata power etc all are opting for thermal power. And of course there is direct reason for that, its more expensive to operate and implement a solar power plant or a wind mill.
India occupies the fifth place in the world in wind energy generation
after USA, Germany, Spain, and China and has an installed capacity of
more than 9756 MW as of January 31, 2009.
Due to lack of that govt incentive policy there are not a whole lot of company in renewable space. Suzlon for wind power , tata power is doing some solar .
On the other hand some companies are doing job in adapting wind and solar energy for internal needs.
(ONGC) is to set up
its second 50 MW wind power project in the Gujarat.
MSPL Ltd is company of interest in wind power with highest wind power installed capacity in country.
