It used to be only with TATA and slowly now I see that almost all business houses expands beyond their expertise. Airtel known for telecom gone with Walmart to create retail. Reliance (ADAG ) is present in almost all major sector including telecom, entertainment, finance etc.
Two question comes to my mind ..
A) Why are they doing it ?
B) Does it make sense ?
If you really look internationally companies grow in their own countries and then they expand beyond borders to become international. Pfizer was a pharma and still a pharma company. But Torrant went from Pharma to Power.
It's interesting that in most of interview with CEO's analyst ask them ..do you have retail plan ?
